While most Muslims will defend it by saying that it’s freedom of choice, I must say that I don’t believe there is any freedom of choice in a child who has been scared that not covering their face will lead to eternal punishment.

Edit: or direct and indirect punishment from their families and relatives. What choice does that leave exactly?

      Exactly.

But I can’t wait for the burkha and niqab defenders‘ opinions. I bet they will use every single manipulative persuasive trick known while avoiding addressing the core issue, which is misogyny and patriachy.

Let people wear what they want ffs. Talk about freedom meanwhile you push for religious persecution.

    4. I also dont like to see kids with lgbt flags, can you banned them as well?!

Or are you just racist to anything related to Islam?!

While I agree with face covering, the head covering should be respected. Though I understand the pressure comes from home, but school should be inclusive and let kids wear or not.

Or then keep on the requirement that no head covers of any kind indoors.

I would like to make a general announcement: religions are cancer.

Denmark joining in. The population is about 6 million. They made a law a while back banning burkas. According to scientists from Copenhagen University, there are 3 women in Denmark wearing a burka, and 150-200 wearing niqabs. 60-80 of the latter are Danish converts.

The pro ban side used some of the arguments you find in this thread. Oppression, misogyny and so on. The con side pointed out the whole initiative was „a politics of symbolism“ affecting virtually noone, and thus not really worthy of such an overstepping action from the state, to determine what people can or can’t wear.

Both arguments are valid in my humble opinion. I was against the passing of that law. And forever in doubt.
