Hallo zusammen!

Huh? The picture doesn’t say anything about tight clothing. Knapp means short, they are saying no low-rise pants in combination with just a sports bra
While knapp can mean tight, I think it is meant more about covered area, i.e. they want you not to show too much skin.

Where are you getting „no tight clothes“ from? „Nicht zu knapp“? Because it doesn’t mean that; it means „Not too short“, refers to the area of skin covered by the garment, not how snug it fits.
Go to a diff gym. FitX oder clever fit huge chains here.
This „rule“ is monst likely only for this one.
Havent seen something like either.
Where do you read „tight“? „Knapp“ means skimpy if that’s what you are wondering.
Just to make sure it’s not a translation issue: The part about tight clothes is not on the photo, right?
I would just ask the employees and look around what other people wear. I agree that pretty much all women sports wear is tight.
As usual here in Germany there is a court ruling stating that this rules have to apply to both men and women due to equality laws.
Change the gym.

This seems like a translaten error. The sign does not say something about tightness, but length. Personally, I think such signs are quite weird, but after talking to an employee at my local gym I am more aware now that a lot of weird people go to gyms.
My big chain gym at one point really thought about banning smarthphones (!) at the training area, since insta-thotting (never before heard about that problem!) would be that severe in some of their gyms.
The rules are not about tightness, but about „common decency“. Just make sure, that your boobs are not falling out or that the outline of your vulva is not visible or that stretching positions do not show your naked butt, etc. (All things that have been observed with women)
Keeping the midriff mostly covered (bellybutton) is also due to sweat however that is not even the worst. Skin to machine contact / rubbing with movement can also shed pus, fungus, blood and other substances, that the next person does not want to get on their skin respectively.
You can’t deny that the clothes get more revealing every year. Ultra skin alike yoga pants with the extra pussy and but crack to reveal even more. Or the sports bra gets shorter/more transparent or with parts missing so you reveal more side boob etc.
Probably the gym had made bad experiences with its customers so they imposed those rules as allowed via their house rules.
Funny story aside. When i was younger and still rebellious i borrowed the sports attire from sister and went to the gym. Nothing left for the imagination as i didn’t wear underwear so ladies started to complain. I just pointed to other women dressed exactly the same. The staff did let me but weren’t exactly pleased. As it was just a one time thing they didn’t changed anything.
The sign says nothing about the attire being tight. It says „knapp“, which is short in the sense of very little fabric. „ZU Knapp“ here means too short, barely covering.

The same rule also applies to men, not because of nudity but for hygienic reasons, as the devices are used by several people
Then I surely hope they have a sign for dudes who go in wearing giant t-shirts that are sleeveless with their nipples hanging out. Or shoes. I see so often in my gym that dudes show up in SLIDES. then they kick them off and workout in their socks. Doesn’t bother me, just an observation. As long as someone isn’t naked, I don’t think anyone should be policing their sportswear. Tired of people being offended by women’s clothing because they can’t control their own eyes and thoughts. All that aside, I got out of corporate gyms and honestly feel better for it. I work out in a much more relaxed atmosphere and love it.
