I have to agree with this in principle, more money should be heading towards recycling and ending the „throwaway culture“ as it’s leading to massive amounts of waste, also agree that companies should be paying more towards it, they dish out ridiculous amounts of products without an afterthought apart from the cash, but companies will simply pass on the cost to the consumers as per usual and it will only damage consumers.
This is a game changer if it is implemented well!
Imagine they do this for one-use plastics, making the company pay for their products disposal is a brilliant way to push business to be more environmentally friendly and actually use the many many biodegradable packaging and material alternatives we already have
This will just make things yet more expensive….. the business won’t shoulder all of these costs and will pass it on. Probably not the best idea when trying to reduce inflation
Oh boy, I can’t wait for all electrical goods to go up in price and then not be recycled anyway.
Fully agree this to start in August, Then the next one can start in September.
But it’s a bit of a joke, when you consider people are being enticed to throw away their car for a new one, because it’s 3 years old, or it’s not electric.
Then there’s the clothing culture… This seasons hot picks etc… 4 times a year, get a new closet full of clothes.
Or your football team has changed their tops for next season, buy new ones.
Thought the point of that super impressive vape ban was to make them not have this issue?
They should have been banned anyway. Why the government pushed people away from refillable vapes to the disposable is so stupid. In a world when we need batteries more and more. People are just throwing away rare earth elements because its out of juice
I’d rather have cigarettes be back as the in thing rather than the battery pack smoke machines
We need to pass a law that makes businesses responsible for the end of life of their projects and packaging.
That’d solve the issue pretty quick.
Great idea, can we do this with McDonald’s etc also, then they may start printing the car details on the wrappers and we may stop scumbag litterers.
This is everyone’s periodic reminder that the 3 Rs are
1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
IN THAT ORDER! To badly quote Rollie Williams: „Imagine the 3 Rs are Destiny’s Child. Reduce and Reuse are Beyoncé Knowles, and Recycle are the other two“.
Good stuff, this is the only way you actually deal with littering, make the sellers of dumped items pay to clear them up.
I vape and I can’t for the life of me fathom why people use these disposable devices, but worse still, chuck them on the fucking floor when they’re done with them?
I use a vape where you have a refillable tank and rechargeable batteries and you just buy coils and liquid for it. I’ve been using that for about 10 years now and the only thing I need to dispose of, are my batteries when they’re dead or the wrapping starts to fray, which I can do at the local vape shop.
It’s not fucking difficult and furthermore, a lot cheaper.
But discarding them where they see fit, is the biggest gripe and goes far beyond vaping. I see people doing this with food wrappers/containers, drink bottles, receipts, any sort of litter. Whilst walking down the street, or from their car, it’s fucking disgusting. It still angers me and boggles my mind at the same time, similarly to people who don’t wash their hands after having a piss.
All speaks to culture and upbringing, or the lack thereof.
