      The fun thing about gerrymandering is that the tighter you make the margins the more impact even a small % increase of Democrat votes have.

      I mean… I know the courts are pretty useless but when the maps are so blatantly being redrawn with clearly stated bias, is someone gonna be the adult and get the children to play nice?

      The more gerrymandering you do, the less effective it becomes. Texas is a pretty purple state as it is, if they get too greedy the whole facade could come tumbling down.

      I doubt this. The more severe you carve, the slimmer the margin in some districts. Here in Kansas, we only have four congressional districts. GOP’ers last redistricting tried to eliminate the one Dem Congresswoman who represents the large KC counties of Johnson (the largest county in the state and now solidely blue). and longtime Democratic Wyandotte County. The latest maps split them, placing Wyandotte in a district that stretches to western Kansas. As I said, it didn’t work to defeat the Johnson County congresswoman, but made vulnerable for the GOP the district with Wyandotte County.

      Just as a reference for how high this ranks on the fascism scales…
      Eliminating 10 districts would be greater than eliminating the entire state of Massachusetts

      The lack of education is why this country is so divided. Monied interests made it this way so that they can influence the government. No society right in the head would vote for republicans.

      This won’t work eventually. Every time they do this, they’re simply diluting democrats with republicans. The state is about 55% republican, 45% democrat. You can try to keep carving it into more districts but you’ll end up with a bunch that are now only 52% R vs 48% D or something very close like this. Still leaning republican, but more vulnerable. Then, if republicans are upset because of..oh I don’t know…Epstein? Or grocery prices? they choose not to vote Republican that cycle. And this backfires and you loose the seats that previously were reliably Republican.

      He started that interview explaining the redistricting was to aid the Hispanic voting body only later to essentially admit that it was gerrymandering.

      How far we have fallen as a country.

      CA, Il, NJ, MD, and NY need to run out as many GOP as possible. Make it clear to TX that this is a really bad idea that the GOP will ultimately lose because once the GOP is gone from those states, the dems hold the advantage in non trifecta states.

      This is not normal behavior. None of it. Political parties should have opposing viewpoints that they debate cordially in service to a nation’s wellbeing and growth, not seek to destroy one another

      Republicans never again get to claim support for democracy. The shit they’re pulling is among the most anti-democratic actions I’ve ever heard of. They’re intentionally stripping the electoral power of their own citizens for the purpose of artificially giving their own political party more power. This is even worse than the typical gerrymandering efforts.
