Every blue state with anything approaching fair maps should be making the same threat.
Tied to that threat should be an offer to coordinate on a solution to permanently end gerrymandering but until that happens blue states should go for maximum unfairness.
Just do it. They aren’t threatening to rig elections, they are in the middle of taking actions to do so. They’ve broken all the rules and all the civility, do the same, do double, do it until they cry „No that’s not fair“ then remind them, these are the rules they play by.
The less obtuse among the Texas GOP leadership have to realize that this redistricting effort is not in their long-term best interests: not only are they setting off a loud and angry race to the bottom that’ll galvanize Democratic opposition nationwide, but they also risk creating a dummymander in their own state that could very easily *lose* them seats in a wave election, as 2026 promises to be. Sure they’re evil, but they’re not *all* stupid… yet every one capitulates to the deranged whims of the toddler-in-chief, whatever the risk.

California, New York and Illinois NEED to do this. And when they ever return to office, they NEED to change the ‚two reps for every state‘ nonsense, because your 10 person state has far too much power than a state with 39 million.
They also need to end these term limits for the Supreme Court and literally put the current admin behind bars for crimes against humanity.
We’re not playing with normal people, and we’re not playing games- the GOP as it stands is a power backed terrorist organization that has taken over the country with their own 24/7 EFFECTIVE propaganda unit (Fox News). Not sound alarmist, but this admin has made it clear that they will not listen to anyone other than the Supreme Court, which is in their pocket. That is, Federal District and Appeals courts are being completely ignored. We’ve seen this single admin subdue both legal branches of checks on it’s power and STILL want to take more. They’ve deployed the military against state wishes AND are going to do it again in D.C…. AGAINST US CITIZENS!!!!

I honestly, deeply, wish our country does not enter into a Civil war (whatever that might look like), but can we acknowledge that the side in office doesn’t gaf, and seem to actively welcome it, or any chance to shoot at anyone who disagrees with them?

Besides, any de-escalation will be short lived. Any truce will mean republicans will stand down until right before midterms and then just gerrymander the shit out of their states; democrats have way more structural and well-intentioned impediments that take time, to accomplish the same thing.

Finally a Democrat with a backbone. The only way to fix this issue is to get both parties to agree. But so long as only one party is doing the exploiting they have no motivation to stop it. ONLY when they become a victim will they be willing to put in laws to prevent it.
