      **Submission Statement**

Back in 2019 Trump recognized Israel’s ownership of the Golan Heights, which is internationally recognized as illegally occupied Syrian territory.

Israel took the Golan Heights when they pre-emptively attacked Egypt, Syria and Lebanon in 1967. For the over half a century that followed, the Golan Heights were thought of as illegally occupied by Israel, that was until Trump decided to say that it did in fact belong to Israel. That was a huge violation of international law, but Trump didn’t seem to care.

In return, Netanyahu decided to name a new settlement in the Golan Heights after Trump, probably because he knows how much Trump likes to have his ego stroked.
