      Albo (PM) and Penny Wong (Foreign Affairs Minister) just had a media press conference about their plans for recognition, the key point of theannouncement is that while Australia is moving ahead with recognition, the government is fully expecting the international community to join in at the general assembly and work out some of the the trickier questions together. So basically they acknowledge Australia can’t really dictate any of the terms of Palestinian statehood, but Australia can lend vocal support to the international movement.

      I’ve yet to see any of the countries pledging to recognize palestine predicate their commitment on elections before recognition.

      Why don’t any of these countries say something like „we will recognize palestine **after** they hold free general elections and demilitarize“

      Every announcement is always something like „Abbas said he will do these 3 things.“ Abbas has promised elections before but he’s still on his one term but in year 17.

      And I recognise the Aborigines independence in the Aborigin Continent. Australia is an occupying force and it’s time to stop the ethnic cleansing of the aborigines. Stop Australian colonialism.

      „Albanese announces Palestinian recognition, saying war in Gaza has gone too far“.

      He shouldn’t be able to make decisions like that for us. It should be put to a referendum.

      Edit: I mean a plebiscite not a referendum.

      Cool… still gonna need boots on the ground to ensure this stuff… so far only Israel is willing to do that. No the UN peacekeepers don’t count as they’re basically told to sit down and watch.

      So… Israel has 3 weeks to wipe them out…

      Nothing to recognize…if nothing is left…

      This sends a clear signal to every terrorist group around the world that terrorism works.

      Even if Hamas in name isn’t in charge, they will still be there running things but without the stupid green headbands.
