Never going to happen. Reality of the situation is that Hamas wants to get out stronger out of this war than before October 2023. They want Israel completely gone from the Gaza strip and want to retain their weapons. That is never going to happen. In fact, even if Israel agreed to those terms, Hamas would put out new demand after demand before letting the hostages go. „we also want political control over the West bank and we will let them go.“ „we want an area around the gaza strip, then we’ll let them go! Really!“ „We would like an area in Jerusalem, then we will absolutely let them go. Believe us!“

Because they know that as soon as all the hostages are accounted for and removed from the Gaza strip, Israel will go out harder against Hamas than ever before. They are their trump card that keeps Hamas somewhat alive.

Yet all these protesters everywhere don’t seem to get this. They don’t understand how terrorists work. They are the type of people that see one video on social media and take it as some kind of absolute holy truth. They fully believe it when Hamas tells them: „a ceasefire and we let them all go“.

And to tell people in understandable language, Hamas is as believable as Trump is, maybe less.

    2. The hostages are Hamas’s most valuable bargaining chip. Giving them up means losing their last real leverage.

I’ve watched and read a lot of coverage of this event in the past 24 hrs and as much as I’d like to share my sympathy for the detention of their abducted loved ones, it’s hard to extend that sympathy when they show no compassion for the 50,000+ Palestinian civilians murdered by their government.

I haven’t seen a single sign from that demonstration calling their government out for its heinous war crimes. The truth is, these demonstrators don’t care about the Palestinians people at all, they just want their Israeli loved ones back.
