Many people have a wrong perception of the Freemasons the idea that they’re some unreachable secret society. In reality, anyone can apply to join a lodge, and there’s public, online information about Freemasonry and its international lodges.
his style was very typical of the Flemish Baroque period. The compass and globe here are classic Renaissance/Baroque symbols
And yeah, a lot of well educated and influential people were Freemasons back then, so naturally you see those symbols pop up in art from the period.

The symbol is very old if you google Fuxi & Nuwa you will find the tools in 2500bc mythology.

The Square and Compass symbolism isn’t even unique/original to Freemasonry. Lots of operative middle age trade guilds employed it, earlier.
