You forgot the final boss
Basque
Is this difficulty as a native english speaker? Just wondering why english speaker is listed as such
24 weeks to get what level ? is people become fuent for that time, some can say only 2 sentences
So, what’s exactly in a week? A given number of classes, full immersion, … ?
I’d love to see this as a worldwide map.
24 weeks… sangria, paella, sol, fiesta
Ireland has its own language. It’s not English and it’s not very easy.
Is Icelandic that much different than Norwegian?
Esperanto for the win!!!
In the newer version Finnish and Hungarian are in the ’44 weeks‘ category: [https://www.state.gov/foreign-service-institute/foreign-language-training](https://www.state.gov/foreign-service-institute/foreign-language-training)
I thought it was odd that Turkish was not in the same category as Finnish and Hungarian, since those three have similar complications for the native English speakers…
44 weeks for russian, lmao, good luck
German was super easy, learned it when I was a toddler. Bavaria however should be black here.
I refuse to believe French is easier than German. First of all German is a Germanic language like English. Second, French people love to speak so fast that you literally can not even hear syllables and tones even when you are reading the exact text they are reading out loud. Like even if you learn how to pronounce it and what it means, you simply can not hear what they are saying because they say it so fast or skip certain parts of the words.
As a Englishman I did gcse French for years. I can tell you now I never became fluent
Welsh has its own language
These are some incredibly shitty color choices
Red and green should be swapped, given the “difficult” connotation that red has, and the “easy” connotation that green has
Why does german take substantial more time than Dutch? 25% is a big bump, or is this a limitation of the bracket system used and are they in reality closer to each other?
The color scheme definitely defies expectations
To be fair this I believe is based on American military personal who have to learn the languages fast.
The island of Ireland has it’s own language; Irish
Why German is hard for germanic language? Because of lot of loan words from romance languages?
As an English speaker who has visited Finland, I absolutely agree 😂
The English people living in Spain must not have seen the map. Or maybe they did, but they confused weeks with years?
No way English speakers learn Swedish in 24 weeks. I have friends from England and Australia who needed 2-3 years of SFI (Swedish for immigrants) to learn the language at a good level.
Is that Hungary in black? Surely the weirdest sounding and most mysterious major language in Europe.
They have a saying- „The only language in the world the devil respects“.
Ah yes, learning the famous Swiss language…
44 weeks for Greek? Bitch we have 6 different ways to write the sound “e”. Plot twist. They all sound exactly the same. That’s the easy part.
Anybody that learns Romanian in 6 months, I’ll take him out for a night with everything paid. Need a Romanian test on start, and a Romanian test at 6 months time.
