    1. This doesn’t mean lasting peace and doubt it will.

Delayed aggression from Azerbaijan towards the Republic of Armenia? Absolutley.
A halt in their rooted Armenophobia in every aspect of their culture, society, and identity? Not at all.

All in all, it’s a „profitable“ thing for Armenia, and I am happy for this outcome, in my own way.

    2. The agreement isn’t even legally binding lol, all of Trump’s peace deals are trying to cure the results and not the cause because all the cares about is getting praise in the moment to boost his ego instead of actually doing anything.

EDIT: My bad, sorry, it does, it lifted any and all meaningful sanctions on Azerbaijan, so that’s just extatic… and it more or less made the Misnk group null and void, so that’s also just stupendous.

The funny thing is that what some experts said would happen actually happened. They didn’t sign the peace agreement, but just put their initials there which is basically nothing in the grand scheme of it all as much as Aliyev says it is something huge.

      > We’re also lifting restrictions on defense cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States

      Well, fևск.

I am an American and am admittedly not too familiar with the situation between Azerbaijan and Armenia. What are some thoughts the citizens or people with ties to either of these countries have about it? And how do you feel about the US getting something out of it? In other words, did the US need to be involved in this? What are your countries getting from us? I’d think we’d need to give you something for you to need a 3rd party to broker this.

    6. Everyone celebrating „peace“ is missing the point. This was a surrender ceremony with American choreography. Azerbaijan walked away with everything: sanctions lifted, Minsk Group dead, US military cooperation restored, corridor legitimized, and international blessing for ethnic cleansing. They got 30 years of strategic goals delivered in one afternoon while being publicly celebrated by the US President.

    7. I don’t think azerbaijan would have attacked armenia the same way turkey is not attacking

I think this was just an official declarationof victory

    8. At that point , why don’t we gave our remaining Land to turks and let them massacre us. Then there will be lasting peace in the region without Armenia. We lost 5000 brothers , suffer ethnic cleansing, humiliation and our people are getting tortured in prison right now and you are celebrating next humiliation and further lost of our Land. It’s a disaster for Armenia

    9. Armenia officially capitulated. Not much can be done about though

Let’s hope the Zangezur thing doesn’t materialize

This is what we’ve been doing for the past 30-something years, really. I think it was an article here perhaps? That talked about the history of Armenia constantly ceeding inches of its own interests to Azerbaijan, legally. One after the other, year by year.

And now we did it again. Another few inches given up with nothing to show for.

This is just a truce for twenty years, to quote a general after the end of WWI. And I know I am being really optimistic with that.
