I think he gets away with it because „once again, to the surprise of no one, I have made a bad decision“ has become kind of his thing. He doesn’t seem like an asshole to me, just someone talented who carries a lot of burdens and like anyone else is just trying to do his best.
He’s saying this to draw negative attention away from him doing shows for oil blood money.
You guys, I think he’s aware that he’s included in his own joke.
