Do Trump and his hawkish trade war advisors understand they have done more than any previous administration to strengthen BRICS into a potentially serious threat to the US? Putin and Jinping will surely be thanking him for this.

Until now, the organisation was a paper tiger that never accomplished anything but meaningless statements and photo-ops because 3 of the 5 founders(Brazil, India and South Africa) did not want bad relations with the USA. But now that the USA is treating them like adversaries what other choice do they have?

I feel like BRICS was a failure until Trump empowered it

BRICS = no cards, hence all the talking and posturing.

India has a GDP per capita of a sub Saharan failed state. The only reason they’re relevant is because they have 1.4 billion people otherwise they’d considered a basket case. History of poor economic and geopolitical decisions including turning down a UN veto + ending up far poorer than China despite have a similar economic profile only 50 years ago. The idea they’re a cunning , good decision maker is ridiculous, they’re screwing up big time by fighting Trump. Just like they screwed up in the past.

South African has rolling black outs because they can’t keep the power on due to corruption.

Brazil is going no where – stuck in middle income for decades, if they didn’t have lots of natural resources they’d be in no better place than India.

BRICS sans China is a group of failed states.

It’s quite astounding to watch Trump change the global political map, as his insults and threats turn former allies away, as his chaotic zero sum transactionall nonsense shows them America’s word means nothing, and as elected officials responsible for leading the nation instead cower and line their pockets.
