Can US statistics be trusted?

The difference year on year (January to July) is not huge. Arrivals are down about 2.3% to ‚just‘ 8.625 million passengers – 97.7% of the travel volume was maintained.
It’s true that 40,000 fewer people traveled to the US in July 2025 than in July 2024. It’s also true that 115,000 *more* people traveled to the US in April 2025 than in April 2024.
The trend overall is *slightly* down on the last year but, for the most part, they are pretty comparable.

Europe travel to the US is down a little but still pretty robust. Europeans don’t seem to mind supporting Trumplestiltskin.

Is 40,000 per month a big number in this context or not?

I think 2026 will be more the year to look at. I know many people who’ve gone to places like the theme parks in Florida who’ve had it’s booked more than a year in advance. The US is usually a big trip that would’ve planned many months and sometimes just over a year in advance.

The people still traveling now may have planned their trips way before the current administration came into office.
