      I remember discussing this project with my granddad before he passed a few years back. It absolutely blew his mind, shipping electricity in from France! My parents would even remember electricity being brought to their houses as kids.

      Question for anyone in the know, would this me mainly used to sell on any excess wind energy (and energy that might be harvested in the near future with more and more off shore windfarms) or mainly for cheap French electricity from their many nuclear reactors to fuel the IT sector here ?

      Work has also started on surveys for the next two interconnectors : the 700MW LirIC from NI to Scotland, and the 750MW Mares link between Dublin and Wales.

      All moving along nicely.
