*Look, the guys a nut but he’s not wrong, we are long past desperate times., and it’s not like the Republicans wouldn’t try anything far less crazy in their pursuit of destroying democracy*
„Veteran Democratic strategist [James Carville ](https://thehill.com/people/james-carville/)on Thursday suggested Democrats should add two states to the country and expand the Supreme Court in order to “save democracy.”
“They are just going to have to unilaterally add Puerto Rico and District of Columbia as states, … They’re just going to have to do it. And they may have to expand the [Supreme Court] to 13 members,” Carville said during a Thursday podcast episode. “
„Carville says conditions are drastic, citing the GOP push to add five additional House seats in Texas ahead of the 2026 midterms, and require a more forward approach if Democrats capture the White House and both chambers of Congress.“
“Any of those things in isolation I would be skeptical about. I would be cautious about,” Carville said of his ideas.
“I would say, ‘Well, I don’t know if that’s the greatest idea in the world, you’re opening Pandora’s box.’ If you want to save democracy, I think you got to do all of those things because we just are moving further and further away from being anything close to democracy,” he added. “
„The argument for D.C. statehood remains a pressing conversation in Washington.“
„[Eleanor Holmes Norton ](https://thehill.com/people/eleanor-holmes-norton/)(D) serves as a delegate for the District but can only vote in committees and cannot participate in floor votes. The same guidelines apply to Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner Pablo Jose Hernandez (D).“
Remember 3 months ago when Carville said Trump’s coalition had already fallen apart and Republicans would jump ship? Pepperidge farm remembers.
Broken clock is right twice a day, this time, though.

Whichever Democrat gets in next has to have the same aggressiveness as Trump if there is any hope of setting this country back on the right track, and securing democracy. New states, expanded SCOTUS, new Voting Rights act, take down Citizen’s United, fix the tax code, Medicare for All option.
Trump has shown what the method is: do it, and make them try and stop you.
THAT’S what I want to see from any candidate. No more preemptive surrender. No more trying not to offend moderates. They refer to the most middle of the road, moderate Dem as a radical.
I want someone to show them what a radical left can really do!

We can turn around the Trump Administration’s complete lawlessness and use it as a tool to get the reform we need to convert America into a real modern Democracy. We need to forcibly remove most of the Supreme Court and give Puerto Rico and DC statehood. The President can do these things unilaterally because SCOTUS said he or she can do anything as long as it’s in official capacity as the President.
We also need to destroy state-level gerrymandering, the electoral college, and eventually even the two party system through mandatory ranked-choice voting for all states.

When primaries come around we need to ask who is willing to take the gloves off. I want candidates that will work to pack the courts, expand the House, expand the Supreme Court, tax the rich, ensure affordable housing, and enact Medicare for all. No more moderate Democrats, they are basically Republicans anyway at this point.

I hate Carville, but this is a decent plan, along with establishing a non-partisan redistricting organization, abolishing the Electoral College, barring convicted felons from holding office, requiring elected officials to pass the citizenship test, age and term limits, deleting the Senate, adding more seats to the House… and so much more that the eatablishment Dems won’t have the guts to do assuming we ever have another fair election in the first place.
