I think they are definitely set back a few years at the very least for any progress that was made in last 20 years, and that is with the fact that Modi gov is pro-west.
Time fixes everything but Trump will have to be gone. Until then, its cautious management of the relationship, at best.
To recover, both sides would have to want to recover. I’m not sure that’s the case.
Why would any other country want to make deals with a president who doesn’t keep his deals? Other countries can get along without the USA.
I don’t think the tariff threats are that insulting to Indians. That’s just business/economics/national-interest. But, the US’s support of Pakistan is what pisses off the Indians.
