This just makes me so sad…but also angry with how we’ve let things go this far.

has there been any comment at all from the Minister for Justice yet?

To the Irish folks here- please raise voice and help protect the legal immigrant community.
Edit- to all Irish folks here- please help support the immigrant people you know. It can be a simple „how are you doing“

I’m very suspicious of all of these posts about Indians. Even the ones that are seemingly positive saying “let’s tackle racism”.

Sad that this is happening in Ireland ! Mainly just a few scumbags that are giving Ireland a bad name !

Seems like something people should follow anywhere. Showing up in deserted streets at odd hours is trouble but recent news has indian and irish indian people jolted. A friend of mine doing her Masters in Dublin had been so happy when she moved. She’s still jolly but she’s def on edge.
Difficult-Set-3151 on
I made an Instagram a few months back. I interact with nothing and follow nothing. Still, I’m regularly getting ‚anti-Indian‘ reels thrown in with the others I see.
There seems to be a coordinated effort in line to drive hate against Indians. There’s obviously some factual reasons I, and most Westerners, wouldn’t like to live in India but I don’t think we’re seeing this stuff organically.

As an Indian who’s been following this news, I hope my government makes a diplomatic issue out of this and hopefully we find a good solution to this problem.

Are we sure it’s not just the regular scumbags assaulting people and not getting arrested situation? And Not specifically targeted at Indians?

This is humiliating.

Our health and social systems are already struggling, but they would be in much worse shape without the contributions of Indian nurses, doctors and workers.
It’s ironic that people who attack others based on their skin colour may one day find themselves or one of their loved ones relying on the same individuals to care for them or save their lives

Whatever about the rising brazenness of racist numpties, in Ireland today we basically have the same number of Gardai and prison places today as we had when there were a million fewer people living in the country.
The resources to go round and do anything about these problems just aren’t there. If the government focuses on tackling this for a while, something else will go to shit.
There are 14,146 Gardai today. There were 14,457 at the end of 2009. A ratio of 1:308 in 2009 is now 1:380 – so every Garda has to cover 23% more people and presumably crimes.
Just as a matter of interest, how many people from India have immigrated to Ireland in the last 2-3 years?

Racist scumbags giving ireland a great name 👍 why have the garda seemingly done fuck all over the past few years allowing this shit to grow.

To be fair that advisory should be issued to everyone in Ireland who might cross the paths of these gougers.
I saw maybe 2 fights in Dublin the 20 years before the pandemic. I see at least one a week now. I’ve even seen 2 on the bus and 2 on the train in the last year.
The scum know they won’t be punished for violent crime so it encourages them to do it more and their little torag friends see them get away with it and start doing it then too.

While it is abhorrent that these incidents are happening and there seems to be very little acknowledgment by stakeholders, Gardaí, government, and so on. Some are using these incidents for disingenuous reasons as well.

Im on the r/indiansinireland (Irish citizen here) and I’ve noticed alot of very strange posts on the sub, clearly by people who aren’t Indian. The posts are by new accounts and seem to be posted by bad actors in bad faith.
The posts aren’t being racist but they are stirring the pot.
Anyone else notice this ? Especially with the rise in incidents..

I’m an immigrant. Been living here nearly 16 years now. Haven’t been worried much about racism here. I haven’t had much thrown at me.
I remember getting called names and teased as a kid. I remember being followed around shops by security as a teenager. I have been hassled by racists before.
But as an adult I’ve been lucky.
Part of me still believe it isn’t supposed to be that way anymore. And people are supposed to be more accepting. I guess I was wrong. I really hope these little shits get the book thrown at them. Then again they’re minors, what can be done?

Aren’t these types of advisories normally only sent out in developing countries where policing and laws to protect foreign nationals are either absent or very weak? What a disgrace and embarrassment for this country.
Without Indian nationals in the HSE I wouldn’t like to think what state the system would be in.
I wouldn’t be able to see a female GP for obgyn care, and I’ve just begun physiotherapy for a frozen shoulder with a lovely Indian physiotherapist. Without a cancellation for him I would have had to wait four to six months longer for physio I was told.
We need these people here and it incenses me that these racist scum are attacking these wonderful people and making them rethink coming here, or staying.
The spate of attacks on Indians has already been shown on TV in India so you can imagine the negative view many will now have of Ireland. When the fk will the govt take this seriously and DO something about it??
