Canada’s facing major labor shortages in multiple key areas like skilled trades. The federal government needs to drastically step up immigration and foreign worker programs to help fill the gaps.
A lot of our social, economic, and demographic problems are getting worse because Canada’s population growth rate is too low, and that’s largely due to far-right extremists pushing an anti-immigration narrative.
Well the pay is shit, the conditions are shit and you have do to do some college to get into the field? No wonder no one wants to do it.
I was making more money as a fucking janitor (to pay for uni) than my buddy who’s in his second year of being a journeyman which is just insane.
They wonder why no one wants to do it…
