A landlord as minister for homelessness is like putting Nigel farage as the minister for Diversity, equity and inclusion.
Maybe she just misunderstood the remit of being the homelessness minister.
Classic.
Labour are really committing to the „we are now the old school Tories“ bit, aren’t they?
I swear they get given a role in government the say
“how can I fuck this up really ironically ?“
Not her proudest moment and strange that the managing agents decided to drop the illegal charges they were trying to make the tenants pay when it was pointed out they knew the landlord was a Labour MP.
Also odd that one month after the tenants had to move out after being told the property was being sold it was re-listed for rent at an increased monthly cost.
Still, I suppose you could argue that this is “Poacher turned Gamekeeper” and that the Minister has first hand experience of the difficulties that tenants experience.
Whatever the colour of the party they are all power hungry greedy bustards.
I’m not even shocked any more. Labour, like the Tories, need to fade into irrelevance.
How is being a landlord not a blatant conflict of interest for any MP with any responsibility for housing? Can someone explain this to me?
The reason politicians don’t deal with the housing crisis is because they profit off of it.
Give MPs a massive pay rise and ban them from any sort of commercial activity whatsover. Put their investments into a truly blind trust, ban them from getting free tickets to the races from gambling firms. Their only income should be their salary. You’ll have the corrupt ones gone tomorrow.
This is why they do nothing about housing in this country, they’re all fucking landlords
