Influencer is what we call people who cannot get a job in that real world so they make one up 🙂

“Hey guys, so in today’s video we’re going to take a look at how you can earn money and get free stuff while avoiding income tax like all the other suckers”
But I’m so special I shouldn’t pay tax. You’re lucky to have me in your country……
Need to find a way to tax them on the free meals, accomodation etc some of them demand from resturants and hotels in exchange for not writing a bad review.

I work as a social media manager and thank God they’re making influencing like a self-employed job where you have to be accountable. So many people get into it for the free stuff and experiences and „easy“ lifestyle. I’ve had quotes of ridiculous money from influencers to not have any creative control and get subpar video content from them.

Honestly, I agree with all of this. But it being on the list of priorities right now is wild given the lack of prison space, homes, policing, jobs etc.

I never understood why they aren’t viewed as corrupt journalists. They both publicize on a pay for play basis. They have expenses and an income even if it is in product rather than cash. The Revenue know exactly how to deal with this – they have closed enough magazines and newspapers over the decades.

We’re a small country, we don’t need more than 3 influencers at any one time.

I’ll admit im surprised its taken governments, not just our own this long to start clamping down on taxing influencers, it clearly is a handy tax stream and because its all about public activity, hard to hide the revenue.

I do think Revenue should make it as simple as possible for people to pay what they owe.

I work at an accountancy practice and the number of people we have coming to us after receiving letters from Revenue is insane, and it’s always; „I didn’t know the money I was getting was taxable“. Revenue is very fair with people but anyone seen to be trying to engage in tax evasion is dealt with appropriately and ignorance is not accepted as a defence.
