    1. They were saying, “We are descendants of King Naresuan, not of King Lavak“. Let me explain. In the past, King Lavak of ancient Cambodia was under the authority of King Naresuan of ancient Thailand. However, when King Naresuan was in a time of crisis, King Lavak betrayed him and backstabbed.

      Once King Naresuan overcame the situation, he fought back against King Lavak. King Lavak was defeated and beheaded. King Naresuan then used the blood from King Lavak’s severed head to wash his feet.

      This ritual was performed as a punishment for betrayal. According to the belief, the result of this ritual was that Cambodia would never prosper and would forever remain under Thailand’s influence.
