I mean most of the viruses we talk about are respiratory viruses that travel through saliva particulate meaning you have to be near someone infected or touching surfaces with the virus and then touching your face, air filters sitting in a corner would do little to prevent this transmission.
Now do believe that they help with allergens.
How can a hepa filter NOT reduce the amount of air contamination? They’re literally what we use at the hospital I work at. What potential risk could there possibly be with filtering the air?
According to HELF, and backed on various journals, it seems uv light therapy are promising, but indeed they have not been „tested on humans“

But honestly, how do you design a trial to „test on humans“? Even if you could, how do you measure outcomes?
So I find the HELF article with the various grounded references is as good as it gets.
I monitor carbon dioxide levels when inside with others, and keeping those levels low by bringing in outside air is recommended by Harvard’s Healthy Home initiative, because the levels can be a proxy for the virus. I also have a HEPA filter taped to a box fan.
