A lot of these businesses are going to be disappointed in how much sales they actually do when they realize that the workers coming back don’t have money to spend. Foot traffic doesn’t equal economic vitality when the workforce is feeling the effects of higher costs of living compared to wages.
Fuck return to office mandates.
We should be actively encouraging mixed use, middle density developments to bring businesses to the people instead of doubling down on last century’s terrible ideas.
