I recall during the MeToo era men on the right kept on complaining that men are unjustly dragged across media frontpages, violating the principle of innocent until proven guilty. But when it’s foreign men _suspected_ of a crime, they now think it’s okay to release information about them?

    2. WeRegretToInform on

Suspected – No. We aren’t doing witch hunts for people who haven’t even had chance to appear before a judge. If the police want help in locating a suspect they will release details, but this isn’t for that, is it?

Convicted – The full identity of sex offenders is made public as soon as they’re convicted, including ethnicity.

      Ethnicity no

      Where they come from, yes

Everyone’s quick to call racism when in reality it’s a culture issue

Doesn’t matter what colour you are. If you grow up in a culture where women are objects to be sold off into marriage before they become a teenager, your probably gonna have pretty shitty views about women

I would imagine the Police withheld the ethnicity to stop his fuckwit followers from being given the piece of red meat they are foaming at the mouth for in order to explode and mindlessly riot and smash shit up in Stone Island outfits. Again.

Which sounds like an entirely sensible decision.

if only as much emphasis was placed on actually supporting the victims of sexual assault. “look love we revealed the ethnicity of your assaulter that’s the best we can do”

Please reveal the ethnicity of his nephew who committed a sex related crime last July and was convicted this January.

Ethnicity but not nationality or immigration status. That’s not even a dogwhistle, its openly saying he wants to know when its non-white people.

Behold our new prime minister, our media will make sure we will freely choose it.

Didn’t anyone read last week about the man who was killed because he was mistakenly identified for another chap who was a paedophile?

We have laws for a reason – because people taking the law into their own hands never ends well. Vigilantes with their pitch forks need to find another hobby.

    10. GhostRiders on

Fine with me as the vast majority of sexual offenses committed are by White Men

    11. Cheap-Syllabub8983 on

I’m not sure he did ask for that. I think he asked for the **immigration status** of suspected sex offenders to be released. There’s no direct quote from him in this lbc story. But in The Times there’s [this ](https://www.removepaywall.com/search?url=https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/nigel-farage-police-cover-up-rape-nuneaton-v06xsp8cl)which does have a direct quote of

      >Finch said he had been “begging” and “screaming” for Warwickshire police to release the immigration status of the two men arrested over the rape of a young girl in Nuneaton.

But it’s not from Farage, it’s from George Finch (reform councilor).

Can anyone find the actual full quote?

It’s a messy area this. The police set a really bad precedent for themselves by sharing the ethnicity of the (white) guy who drove in to the parade in Liverpool within a couple of hours of the incident. Because now whenever they don’t share it, people make their own assumptions.

Honestly I feel like his lot don’t care if women get raped / abused, as long as it’s by white nationals. If they were so concerned with women’s rights they’d do something about the rape and DV conviction rates.

Yer pal is of Scottish and German origin. (With a side order of Umpalumpa)

    14. I’ve grumbled about this on local news sites – when the suspect is brown, you get hundreds of comments. When they’re white, silence.

Almost like the „think of the children“ gang don’t really care so much about the children’s safety, and it’s just another front for racist attacks.

So bored by this narrative. Can we stop? This country is so divided and politicians are stirring it up and making it worse

It’s scary how we walk these same roads as a species!

Who do I blame!? And I swear to all that is holy and both unholy why do we have such short memories in the UK & West!?

    17. It baffles me that he is genuinely trying to frame himself as some sort of protector of women when he gleefully supports the likes of Tate and McGregor.

Let alone the type his party typically attracts, like McMurdock.

    18. PrometheusIsFree on

If the government releases all data, such as culture, faith, country of origin, and immigration status of those convicted, everyone would know the truth. I’m not sure ethnicity or suspicion has anything to do with it. If there’s a real problem identifiable with a particular section of the population it can be addressed. Keeping the data secret is just feeding the far right. If the data doesn’t support the likes Farage, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on.

Soooo are we just going to have official state sanctioned Pogroms now?

Sort of ironic given Reform’s tagline is ‘Britain is lawless.’ Maybe they would be best to change that to ‘Britain should be lawless.’

    20. At the end of the day, there is a far greater correlation between gender and perpetuators of sex offences than there is with race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, etc.

    21. Maxwell42301 on

He’s not even hiding it. I hope this man and his gaggle of racists don’t get anywhere near the position of prime minister.

Funny how he doesnt like to mention his nephew who managed to avoid being put on the register despite upskirting women
