Are the weak points the defective engineering, poorly trained crew and culture of corruption and coverups?

submarines have never been strong, their power comes from how stealthy they are, if they find a weakness in that, its a bigger deal.

Now with any luck the Ukrainians can begin a rapid and unscheduled disassembly of these material assets.

Do the submarines need tugboats?

Saw a video that said modern U.S. submarines don’t use active sonar, they are largely flying blind while picking up sonar from other vessels. The Navy has mapped out the routes the subs go with other ships for depth, and most ships nowadays use sonar so they rarely run into anything, but will sometimes surface right underneath a local fisherman. I bet that would be one of the most surreal days of their life.

Probably noise signatures and not a weak point necessarily. Today’s submarines are paper planes and not meant to sustain fire. Stealth is the name of the game.
