Sure, those are horrible picures. But so are pictures of nearly starved Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
As observers we are so oversaturated with displays of suffering and the attempts to weaponize our compassion.
„Look at those hostages! Now let’s bomb the Gaza strip. We are in the right!“
„Look at our people! Now let’s drive the Jews into the sea!“

They say that the first casualty of war is truth and one of its last is our humanity. We’re close.
