Hallo zusammen. Ich lebe in Bayern und bin letzten Sommer und schon heute einer riesigen Hornisse begegnet, die in meine Wohnung fliegt und Geräusche macht, als hätte sie einen Propeller. Irgendeine Idee, was das für eine Hornisse ist? Google gibt mir nur Informationen über Asiatische Hornisse, aber ich glaube nicht, dass es danach aussieht. Außerdem scheint die Asiatische Hornisse viel kleiner zu sein als dieser Kerl. Oder hat vielleicht jemand eine Idee, ob es in Deutschland Institutionen gibt, bei denen man danach fragen kann?

Edit:Can’t tell from the picture really, sorry. But for those, catch and release. The Asian one needs to be reported as far as I know.

There’s is Vespa orientalis (Orientalische Hornisse) , Vespa velutina (Asiatische Hornisse) and Vespa crabro (Hornisse). Yours looks like Vespa crabro.
The native hornet is a specially protected species due to its acute population threat. It is not permitted to kill them or destroy their nests.
Can’t tell from that Pic, but probably just a regular European hornet. They are pretty large, but Usually chiller than wasps.
We had a nest in our attic last year, so had many visitors, but nobody got stung.
Please be aware that hornets are under the highest protection by law. Killing, injuring and even catching them can lead to a massive fine (up to 50,000 Euros).
