And when he returned to the racially divided US it did not even give him the right to get on a bus with white folks.
Not-so-fun-fact: Apparently he also said in the press that he was treated better at the Olympics than in his own country that still had segregation at the time.
I’ve read that Germany had propaganda before these games about how ‚aryans‘ were basically best suited at everything physical and would win most of these events.
And if you’ve watched the 100m in the past few decades you know the reality is exactly the opposite lol. I dunno if I’ve ever watched an Olympics with a white guy in the final 100m race.
