      I enjoy the memes aa the next guy but I believe it’s time to remind everyone that this is a nothingburger at best and a (sad) attempt at saber rattling at worst.

      He is not „moving“ the subs, they are always there. That’s their entire point as part of a nuclear triad: to be there in the event a first strike takes out the other two components (land based ICBM and strategic bombers) – which in itself is also pretty much an impossibility – to launch a counterstrike.

      The USA do not need their sub to strike Russia: this is exactly the same as when Russia announced they were moving their mobile ground based launch platforms (they are always moving, that’s why they are mobile) and putting their strategic missile force in a state of heightened readiness (it is always at high readiness because in the event of a nuclear exchange it’ll need to be).

      It means literally nothing, just like when Shitty McShitface from the Cremlin goes on state tv saying they’ll bomb [random EU capital] „this time for real trust me bro“. Empty words for the knuckleheads making up their fanbase to cream their pants because „hurr durr our leader stronk“.

      Note:  all US submarines are nuclear (powered) and there is no reason to position the nuclear (missile) ones anywhere near Russia.  

      If anything this is positioning the nuclear powered but non-nuclear missile ones (SSGN) closer to Russia.
