Das Präfektur Board of Education von Osaka gab am 1. August bekannt, dass ein 26-jähriger männlicher Lehrer an einer Präfekturhochschule eine einmonatige Gehaltsreduzierung (10%) als Disziplinarmaßnahmen für die wiederholte unangemessene Bemerkungen an eine Schülerin in seiner Klasse erhalten hat.
Nach Angaben des Verwaltungsrates sagte der Lehrer während einer Konferenz für Eltern-Lehrer-Schüler im November letzten Jahres. „Das mag hart klingen, aber geht es dir gut, so hässlich zu bleiben?“ Während einer PE -Klasse, als der Schüler Torhüter im Handball spielte, erzählte er es anderen. „Zielen Sie auf ihr Gesicht.“ Berichten zufolge sagte er auch während eines Fernlauflaufs, „Wer würde sich jemals mit jemandem wie dir ausgehen, du hässlicher Freak.“
Das Problem kam ans Licht, nachdem die Eltern eines anderen Schülers die Schule kontaktiert hatten. Als Reaktion auf die Untersuchung des Verwaltungsrats behauptete der Lehrer, er versuche, eine starke Sprache als Anleitung zu verwenden, aber erkennen, dass seine Bemerkungen unangemessen seien. Fügte er hinzu, „Ich bedaure zutiefst, bei Schülern und Eltern einen Vertrauensverlust verursacht zu haben. Ich entschuldige mich aufrichtig.“

I’ve had a teacher basically say the same thing to me, but she did it from a place of kindness and with tact, and even as an absolutely clueless 16 year old, I could see that. This was not the way.

But just being real here. A lot of these teachers , especially private schools (foreign teachers included) are so wrapped up in their own world and office clique, they lack the ability to express empathy for students and then blame this inability on being inundated with work. They think they’re working in a regular office pretending to be regular “salary men/women” hanging out in their teacher’s room when they should be taking the childcare aspect of the job more seriously. Most of these people don’t think about what kind of damage emotional harm can do to young people’s futures and the way they view society.
Anything wrong that they do they blame on being exhausted. I really don’t understand why a lot of these teachers (especially Japanese ones) whine and whine about being exhausted from working at school. I know I’m going to upset some professional teachers when I say this but the work is not hard, even for a top tier competitive school. You basically run the same curriculum over and over again year after year on a topic you should be more than qualified to teach and you’re doing it in an environment where you have full control and authority. You always know what’s coming next at work and what to expect, which can’t be said about most other jobs.

There is already enough stress people here have to face regarding looks and bullying from their peers. The last thing they need is a teacher and/or parent, adults who should be mature role models, exacerbating the issues. Plus, considering that he is a grown man and that she is a child, nothing regarding opinions about her physique should even cross his mind. So many perverts in this world.
