SS: Arab states, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, joined a global declaration calling for Hamas to disarm and cede control of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority, with UN support. The declaration is backed by the Arab League, EU, and 17 other counties many of them Muslim-majority. They also condemned Hamas’s October 7 attack and proposed a temporary international mission in Gaza. France and the UK plan to recognize a Palestinian state in September, despite Israeli and US opposition. However, Hamas shows no sign of stepping down, and Netanyahu rejects a two-state solution.
It is a landmark shift in the diplomatic arena by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Arab League, and Turkey to sign and publicly demand the disarmament of Hamas and the end of its rule in Gaza.
Having said that, I am shocked the Washington Post, the NYT, the BBC, and (much less shocked) Al Jazeera have not mentioned the call to disarm Hamas a single time in their coverage after 48 hours… (I checked their individual websites + Ground News & could not find anything; more than open to anyone correcting me if I am wrong).
Given how many other outlets are leading with it, including Le Monde (who I tend to categorize near the center-left on I-P coverage) the silence by those listed above is deafening.
They should’ve done it on the evening of October 7th, right after the videos of innocent people being slaughtered came out, not two years later (after these countries have been silently supporting Hamas by going against Israel constantly since October 8th).
Doing it now because each one of those states sees $$$$ on the table with onshore reconstruction and gas production offshore.
it’s just gonna leave a power vacuum which other militant groups will fill. there’s honestly one solution to conflict in the middle east but if i dare say it i’ll be taken out by Mossad.

They also call for „Right of Return“. Codename for the destruction of Israel and the likely end of half the Jews in the world via a pogrom like October 7.
This is the type of messaging that is designed for westerners, but the people of the region know exactly what it means.
There is no such thing as a „Right of Return“. There will never be a „Return“ of the sons of the sons of the people who declared war on the day old Israel and fled after their attempted genocide failed. No country will ever dictate Israel’s sovereignty and immigration policies. And Israel would rather turn to all out war than meet the fate the Kibbutzim outside of Gaza faced during the 7th.
