      This is zoos for you. They’ll tell you they’re all about conservation and breeding programs but it’s just another business.

      Grounds for shutting down the entire zoo if you ask me. Clearly they don’t care for animals in the right way.

      I don’t doubt the zoo tried here, but holy shit this is depressing. This has to be devastating for the caretakers too. My first thought is if we should have zoos in the first place where the animals depend on ticket sales. But, a lot of them wouldn’t be alive in the first place if it weren’t for zoos.

      I agree that criminal charges should be brought and at a minimum some people should be fired. It is part of your job managing a zoo to manage animal populations and plan ahead. Sounds like some people were either incompetent or lazy.

      First we have the Copenhagen debacle with their zoo killed its perfectly healthy 2 year old giraffe because they couldn’t breed him. Now another zoo in Europe IS SHOOTING, I repeat, these asshole zoo keepers shot these baboons. I have no fucking sympathy for these scumbags. I hope their zoo gets shut the fuck down. They received multiple offers to take these animals in.

      What the actual fuck?!? They shot them!! Why the fuck would you not just euthanize them instead like you would with any sick animal. Absolutely disgusting they would resort to shooting them.

      Can’t remember where, but this zoo held a „name the baby giraffe“ contest, and then before the baby was a year old, they decided to kill it and use the meat to feed the big cats.

      I can just imagine all the kids with zoo memberships who were watching the giraffe grow up.

      Being upset by the death of 12 animals while millions are systematically tortured and murdered every day for your / our convenience is a bit hypocritical.
