Everyone is surprised when you subsidize renting less then the landlords need to lower rent so people can afford the prices. Imagine that huh.

Meanwhile, a furnished decent flat or even a detached house in Finland costs like half of what it would cost unfurnished and yet to be repaired if it was in my home country of Bulgaria.
A relatively well furnished 2 bedroom flat in Sofia, with a living room, no separate kitchen, would cost no less than €250-300k. A random house in a random deserted village, totally untouched for 60 years, costs €20k-50k – you need to pour an additional 100k+ to make it livable.
Finland is extremely beautiful and you have it great, compared to many other countries.
