    1. I have to ask. What about the water being deep makes it so dangerous? Is it because you have to actively swim to stay above the water line? How are they in danger of getting stuck on the bottom if it’s hard to reach the bottom in the deep parts? Are you just fine if you know how to swim? If not, can’t the ones who can’t just use flotation devices to keep themselves up? 

    2. It’s not the OP’s responsibility but that photo is wildly off and has nothing remotely close to where the drownings are supposed to be occuring.

    3. I used to swim in pools left after mining or gravel/sand extraction quarry. Yeah, they were deep but there was nothing inherently dangerous. Any fast river in PNW is WAY more dangerous and yet plenty of kids get into the water.
