Ich habe das gefunden, während ich mich in meiner Gegend erkundete, für mich sieht es aus wie ein kleiner Bunker aus den 1950er Jahren.

There are a ton of bunkers, caponeers, and other military defensive stuff all over cyprus. It is not from 1920, much newer.

Looks like a pillbox, you would shoot from it as a position of cover.

    To sacrifice a lamb !

Actually, though, it’s for soldiers during war. We aren’t at peace yet, technically.

Might be worth googling what happened to Cyprus in the 70’s 😉 There’s a surprising amount of bunkers in the vicinity of the university and all over the city (and I assume country).

  5. They’re all over the place, they were built a lot in through the 80s and early 90s (along with tank berms).

It’s a pillbox, probably has (or had) a good vantage point, and basically was for soldiers to set up like a machine gun or something and shoot invading armies.

They’ve long fell into disuse though and a lot have been just demolished because of urbanisation.

They are turrets pretty much. Not much good against a propane truck 😕

  7. Well it was the fascists from Greece that built military structures around the island before they started an ethnic cleansing of Turks. That’s why northern part and southern part is now separated. It’s like when a marriage ends in domestic abuse and the man is desperately and violently trying to force the female back into the marriage.

They were built from 1964 to 1967 under the Guidance of General Grivas to fight any turkish landing at the shores. At least most of them. When the Turks came no unit was in place.
