I am, however, hoping she will, because that would be by far the funniest possible outcome

This riding has also had MASSIVE turnout for the Conservatives – like, top-5-ridings-in-Canada huge – in the last several elections. Damien Kurek won earlier this year with more votes than a lot of ridings cast TOTAL.
…Bonnie Critchley isn’t going to end Pierre Poilievre’s career by beating him, but he might very well end his own career by winning 70-25 with half the votes Kurek earned.
I’m just going to put this out there – I think based on sentiments we’re seeing from people in the riding, that Bonnie has a better chance of winning it than anyone seems to think. I mean, we all thought Carleton was a sure bet for PP too.
…will I be surprised if he wins? Not in the slightest. I still expect that to happen. But will I be surprised if Bonnie wins it instead? Also not in the slightest. I could totally see it happening.
If anti-PP elements within the CPC are smart, they will find a way to clandestinely give resources and support to her campaign. Even if she can’t win, if she takes a big bite into PP’s percentage and drops him into the 50%-60% range, it will be humiliating and could be enough to send his leadership into a final death spiral.
in a rational world, a candidate like Bonnie Critchley could win many a riding anywhere in Canada – a centrist, a vet, a hardworking campaigner. i really hope the good people of BR-C will vote her into Parliament like the good people of Carleton did for Bruce Fanjoy. Time to rid Canada of the career politicians out for themselves and vote in people who are willing to do the work and actually represent their ridings and not special interests.
