    1. There had been a severe storm in that area throughout the afternoon. ~~I could imagine that they have hit fallen trees and that derailed the train.~~ SWR reports that a possible hangslide after the rainfall might have caused the accident.

      From the damages on the scene, the train did not follow the curved tracks but went straight ahead up the other side of the hill and collided with trees there.

      It’s always upsetting when accidents like this happen in countries where you usually expect rigorous regulations and safety checks to prevent these things.
