    1. > „Elton had made a comment that he thought I needed real rehab,“ Joel, 76, says in the film, referring to an interview John did with Rolling Stone in 2011. „He chalked it up to, ‚Oh, he’s a drunk.‘ And that really hurt me.“

      > He continues: „I said wait a minute? Don’t you know me better than that? And there was bad blood for a little while. There was a dovetailing of things that happened during that time.“

Why are there so many Billy Joel stories? This media push is insane.

I love him and his music. But the more that comes out with this documentary, the more I think he needs REAL rehab. An alcoholic that attends rehab, then keeps drinking is still just an alcoholic.

Elton was right: a facility that coddles you and treats you like a guest at a spa is NOT rehab.

Is Elton John at every celebrity’s intervention? I swear to god Billy is the third or fourth person I’ve heard say Elton was the one to tell them they had a problem.

    5. Pretty weird headline. It’s written in a way that makes me want to have sympathy for Billy, but Elton seems to be in the right here.

Billy absolutely has (or at least had) a drinking problem and could have really benefitted from rehab. Elton had people confront him in a similar way, went to rehab as a result, and he testifies that it drastically changed his life for the better. Team Elton on this one.

All of the stuff coming out to promote this doc is starting to hit me like the first time I saw ‘History of the Eagles’. Like, Don and Glen were ostensibly in charge of the production and yet they came out looking like the biggest bag of dicks ever.

Billy is the first artist I was ever a completist for. And a lot of his work is still very meaningful to me. But it seems like each of the little bits of tea that are getting spilled to promote this doc make him look more and more like a selfish asshat who is a real problem to be around. Makes me sad. Don’t ever meet your heroes, kids. Perhaps not even on TV.

    7. Elton is on the wagon, afaik. Maybe a recovering addict can see what you can’t, Billy?

    8. If Elton John tells you that you need to go to rehab because of your drinking, it’s bad, it’s really fucking bad.

No one who doesn’t have a problem would get hurt by someone telling them to go to rehab.

if he said that really hurt him, well billy you’re a fucking moron addict, if someone tells you to get some help they’re trying to keep you alive.
