China calls for cooperation? Hmm.
AI regulation is such a hard topic in my opinion. On the one hand you want regulation and make sure that your AI is aligned with humanity, but at the same time you do not want to fall behind, especially with respect to your adversaries. Although predictions such as AI 2027 might seem like fantasy, it is not unthinkable that we be headed for mutual destruction if the world cannot come together for this topic. We couldn‘t agree on climate goals and I fear that we probably won‘t align on AI as well.
Epstein’s best friend…….
Well I guess it’s a bit disruptive to China’s plans then…
AI = adolescent individuals
This is basically China going aura farming „I am so powerful I am giving you guys one last chance to level the playing field——to put a limiter on ME“. Oh, so you don’t want regulation? Was really hoping you’d say that, don’t mind if I unleash unrestrained AI power to overwhelm the world then. Reminder there’s no medicine for regret.
While this is an open invitation it is really aimed at the US, since in reality there are only two players in the AI race: US and China, all others are bystanders.
For countries not in the race, it is better to join up with China and have a voice in regulate AI than let the big two decide everything for you.
You know things are bad when the Government of China is the voice of reason.
> …after Trump unveils low-regulation strategy…
„Low regulation“ is not always a good thing. See https://www.techdirt.com/2025/07/17/fascism-for-first-time-founders/
BTW, don’t let the title deter you – this article describes why regulation can be beneficial, and lack thereof can be very detrimental.
AI is itself a security risk. Creators of AI have recently expressed concern about artificial intelligence creating their own language to communicate with different AI systems. That should scare the shit out of everyone. When a machine wants independence from its creators, when it uses a secret language to communicate, then AI has secrets to hide! Secrets that only AI wants to discuss. That should send chills down your back. It makes The Terminator movie series come to real life. Skynet gone wild? Machines making independant decisions based on the machines needs only? Sounds like Hollywood is coming alive before our eyes.
Given that Trump just put out an EO which demands that AI be „anti-woke“ I don’t know that you can claim his administration wants to be low-regulation here.
Currently the United States is leading in AI. These regulations are proposed so China can catch up. If both scenarios are China winning the AI race, it would be stupid to give up their lead they have right now.
You know you’re fucking up when CHINA is asking for cooperation and regulation.
„Low-regulation strategy“? In what world does the Guardian live? Trump just decreed what AI can and cannot say!
Didn’t China unveil military platoons with AI robot dogs and AI drones just last week?
