At a meeting with the couple last month, Tesco Ireland Ltd representatives were told they would get the horses off if they were „financially compensated“ so that they could buy or rent new land to keep the animals. Tesco refused.
The Donovans also claimed they have been on the site for 15 years and could claim some adverse possession (squatters rights). Tesco dispute this and say the claim is bound to fail.
Would it not cut down on shipping prices for their burgers? 🤔
What a joke, the rules don’t seem to apply once again
At least Tesco have the €€ to fight the case. The ordinary farmer that this happens to has to pony up the readies.

I didn’t even need to read the article to know who the owners of the horses were, but confirmed anyways. ffs wish the laws would be updated to deal with their crap.
“locks to the gates to the site have been removed” I’m pretty sure there is a word for the concept of entering a property you do not own by disabling or removing a security feature. I wonder if it’s even legal.
Normally costs at least 10k to get an injunction Tesco wouldn’t even notice this amount…they picked the wrong field to leave their pony’s in…should be jailed for extortion really as that is what they are trying to do…I guess this is part of their culture and it’s a regular occurrence…
While i agree with Tesco, Why did Tesco leave the site idle for so.many years.. This buying and banking of land is similar to abandoned parked cars or derelict housing… They only got worried about it when it might on derelict sites tegister….Galway coco complaining about no money and here is a valuable capital site for which they tolerate dereliticon and dont collect taxes from.
