      From the article

South Korea’s birth rate increased for the 11th consecutive month in May, showing a slight improvement with 20,309 births, a 3.8% rise from the previous year. However, the total fertility rate remains extremely low at 0.75, far below the replacement level of 2.1. Despite this modest birth increase, the overall population continues to decline because deaths outnumber births by over 8,000 in May alone. Experts warn that without sustained growth in births, South Korea will face severe demographic challenges including labor shortages, economic slowdown, and pressure on pension systems. The government’s efforts, such as supporting marriages and easing child-rearing costs, have helped slightly, but the population crisis remains serious.

If the South Koreans don’t start fucking we might run out of good BBQ and overrated male pop singers.

    3. And it will continue to decline unless they hit 2.1 children per woman. The number of months of increase doesn’t matter so much when they’re still at 0.8. Even at 1.0, every generation is half the size of the previous one. Yes, I think it’s great that the numbers are better. Slowing their population collapse, even a little, is a net good for them. But they’re a long way from even breaking even.

    4. Why do we pretend migration does not exist? The solution for them will be to attract young migrants. There is no other way to avoid fiscal doom. It is already too late for organic population growth to catch up.

    5. This is what happens when people watch porn and stop approaching opposite genders for courtship and subsequent marriage.

The reason why births are suddenly climbing again is because of the increase in the number of childbearing aged women in South Korea.

The number of women aged 30-35 is higher during these years than previous years, and also future years too. This means that more children will be born for the foreseeable future, but only because of the increase in childbearing aged women.

After the cohort of women ages out of their childbearing years, the birth rate will plummet back to below 0.7 as the next cohort of childbearing aged women is a lot smaller.

    7. Meanwhile, wars tearing the world apart and climate catastrophe knocking the door.

I am tired of these so called „experts“ cribbing about „dWinDliNg BiRtHRaTeS“. Women don’t owe this world or anyone any kid/kids. Motherhood is every woman’s personal choice, not an obligation, no matter what.

Its basically the wolves are crying that the sheeps are not breeding. Let them cry. I don’t care. Women are not broodmares and men are not cannon fodder.

Personally I don’t want any kids primarily because of the fact that pregnancy and childbirth are absolutely horrific and it terrifies me.

Will only consider having kids if the Artificial Womb Technology becomes an accessible reality that can allow women to have kids without the need to go pregnant and give birth themselves, if they choose to and if the upcoming Climate catastrophe is averted. Otherwise no chance of me having any kid/kids ever.
