    1. I don’t think GM has ever made right-hand-drive vehicles have they? Why would they expect anyone to buy something not made for that market?

    2. This is just a replay of the same campaign that the US fought in the 1980s.

      Back then, under Reagan, US carmakers complained they were shut out of Japan, Japanese weren’t buying their cars, yet Japanese cars were selling well in the US. It was bitterly unfair, they said.

      Japan agreed to a range of agreements in which it agreed to limit exports of steel and cars to the US, expand imports from the US, and work to get rid of obstacles for US firms in the Japanese market, particularly cars.

      Significantly, it didn’t work back then…

    3. They can change the restrictions as much as they want, but they can’t change customer sentiment. If the Japanese customers don’t want American cars ,they won’t sell. I’m an American and I too would prefer to drive a car made in Japan.
