When you look at establishment politics you see a few things.

One you see because of the business influence (corruption) a refusal to address things like the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and other aspects of immigration reform in a really analytical way.

That is something that both main parties in Canada and the U.S. amongst other places have in common because both are in the pockets of business interests. It’s a problem that has to be addressed in what is suppose to be a representational democracy versus that of a corporatocracy.

That being said you then have one side that is completely driven by outrage echo chamber politics on every single issue. Alienation and anger is all that matters.

You get a lot of extremely powerful interests that prey on that and misinform and frankly control people against their best interests. Climate change denialism, vaccine/health denialism, the list goes on and on.

We need media and politics to stop being lowest common denominator/one dimensional as in a world of complexity and nuance that just takes us to the bottom of the barrel but for people and organizations that profit from problems they absolutely love and continue to pump that status quo.
