I got a feeling Carney is going to toss a few potatoes back to the Provinces.

Kinda a becareful what you wish for in autonomy as well .

Id support it, problem with the the feds inserting themselves so much in the Provinces isn’t just cost in operations , its also a large political liability for the feds and the opportunitys it provides Provinces to duct responsibility .

Immigration is a beauty of an example for that right now .

I like Carneys approach so far of encouraging and bringing the light of responsibility back on the Provinces, its a buisness approach of not only allowing individuals like Premiers the chance to build their resume but it also shares the responsibility of productive governments and responsibility of failures .

Federal public service under Trudeau went from employing 0.72 % of the population in 2016 to 0.90 % in 2023 during a period of unprecedented population growth. Population was 35.5 million in 2016 and 41 million in 2023. So that means the federal job roles went from 255k to 369k, so cutting to 309k is not really a huge cut relative to historical norms for the feds. It would drop us back to 0.75 % of the population being federal employees.

The Trudeau administration’s hiring policies were just unsustainable, we need to return to reality.

As a Conservative, Carney has been great so far. Taking the best CPC policies like cutting the PS and carbon tax.

It’s too bad he kept so much of Trudeau’s cabinet and is continuing the asinine gun buyback program. Still though as a traditional Conservative, I’m cautiously optimistic.

“Could” is the operative word here, the speculation about the cuts is becoming ridiculous. Can we wait and see what cuts are made before getting riled up over a crystal ball?
