I actually think the debate is a very good idea because it’s putting a spotlight on the extremism that’s alive and well in right-wing politics right now.

To those saying we shouldn’t “give these voices a platform,” I respectfully disagree. These aren’t just fringe outliers shouting into the void, they represent a very real and growing segment of political power and influence in this country. Pretending they don’t exist or trying to silence them doesn’t make the problem go away.

What does help is dragging these views into the daylight where they can be openly challenged, dissected, and recognized for what they are. That’s how people, especially those who might not be paying close attention, realize just how far things have drifted.

Touting those opinions do not line up with modern day Catholic Ideology and the church should take a firm stance that this is the case.

So, first off the maxim „power corrupts“ has only been reaffirmed time and time again in human history.

Second, any societal model which instills checks and balances to power will be less corrupt than societies which don’t, given the first maxim is true.

Third…any historian knows the first maxim is true. Given enough power „The Church“ became insufferably corrupt. The inquisitions being exhibit A.

Fourth, the American people seem to be choosing „religious“ autocratic rule, negating all checks and balances, essentially tossing our Constitution to the four winds (horses of the apocalypse)?

For what? A man who made vows of fidelity to 3 wives and cheated on them all *before* he became President?

This is the „benevolent“ autocrat who is going to return us to „favor with God as a Christian nation“?

Yes, this martyred „paragon of virtue“ can „return us to greatness“ only if he’s awarded complete unquestioned power with NO checks and balances?

You, Christian faithful, would seemingly give up your democracy, hard fought for and all the checks and balances to power it included to someone who claimed Epstein as one of his good friends for 15 (possibly plus) years?

Why? Why? Why?

You should ask yourselves why.

Power corrupts and Mr. Trump proved himself corrupt *before* he was given autocratic power by y’all.

Do you really think this is a multiplicative situation? No… it’s not! It’s additive. Take one corrupt man and give him maximum power and you only ADD to his corruption!
