Relevant background to this. UNWRA has been providing aid to Gaza for decades. They had hundreds of distribution sites across Gaza and were able to distribute aid about as efficiently as was practical given the conditions they operate under, most relevantly dozens to hundreds of people didn’t die on a daily basis trying to receive aid.

Israel claimed from the earliest days of the war that UNWRA was bad/infiltrated by Hamas, etc without real evidence and only bare claims against a handful of staff (half of which they’d already murdered). Western governments including Canada bit hard on the narrative and cut aid during a growing humanitarian crisis.

Enter, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, registered in February 2025. In May it’s mission was reported as:

>The little-known, Swiss-incorporated Gaza Humanitarian Foundation would under the plan hand out aid at distribution hubs secured by the Israeli military and private contractors. If they wanted to distribute aid the UN and others would need to use these sites, most clustered in southern Gaza, forcing Palestinians to travel long distances to pick up food.

GHF later said in a statement that „no shots were fired at Palestinian crowds“ and „there were no casualties.“ Some injured Palestinians could be seen in video footage of the incident verified by CBS News Confirmed, which showed hundreds of people around the distribution center.

Today thousands have been killed just trying to get food during a man made famine, and the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is one of the most Orwellian entities of the 21st century. More than 170 NGOs called for the GHF food aid distribution scheme in Gaza to be dismantled, including Oxfam, Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, and Amnesty International.
