This is good, expanding trade with China will only make our country stronger, but let’s be real here: China wants to export their cars and keeping a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs will always be a wrench in any trade deal with China. The canola tariffs they imposed are clearly done in response to the EV tariffs, so I don’t see those getting removed as long as we continue to keep our tariff wall. Get rid of the tax, get the Chinese auto makers to invest in production in Canada, and we all win.
China is the world’s second superpower, it’s crazy to me that we had to wait until trump before we got serious about opening up more trade with China.

There are more sensible areas where we shouldn’t or be very careful before trading clarity china but the country remains an important trading partners in multiple sectors. If we are to diversify our training partners, we can only rely on liberal democracies like us.
