That takes the wind out of „de Brits are at it again“ hysteria.
The record labels are at it again.
The Irish part is a long intro and the beat kicks in when she starts singing in English. It makes perfect sense for a record company to cut the slow intro for the radio version. I would seriously doubt it has anything to do with the language.
So they played the radio edit as supplied by the record company.
I will put down my Paddy pitchfork.
The song “The Jaime Oliver Petrol Station” is gonna get even more attention, eventually.
Something tells me she knew well, controversy sells and the „oh look the Brits are at me“ route.
Relax don’t do it, BBC, when you going to come!

Have a vague memory that her label wanted to put her forward for British categories at the Brit awards in the past, which she had to push back on. Some interesting decision being made over there if looks like.

Who cares. Seems CMAT always wants controversy for publicity. And why are we as Irish people platforming BBC as if it’s a media god in Ireland? It’s a British broadcaster. Not Irish.
First with Kneecap and now with their CMAT person, it’s getting a bit ridiculous how these artists are hijacking the Irish language for these contrived publicity stunts.

Isn’t this the same person who was saying that wearing GAA jerseys is something that Brits and Americans do and it’s not done in Ireland?
It sounds like Ulster Irish to me. Which sounds very much like Arabic (lots of people have told me that Irish sounds like Arabic (I think it’s the ch sound which only Irish and Scottish Gaelic get right)).
So it’s not anti-Irish. It’s just racism in general…
If it’s not in English, and they can’t get a quick off the hoff translation, then it must be bad.
2FM played it this morning, and guess what – it was the radio edit with no Irish!
