Hallo! Ich stieß auf einen Grabstein aus Dänemark, in dem im Juli 1903 fünf Geschwister tragisch an Diphtherie starben. Die Kinder sind nicht im Alter oder Datum des Todes ausschließlich aufgeführt.
Gibt es einen kulturellen oder historischen Grund, warum die älteste Tochter zuerst aufgeführt ist, dann der einzige Sohn und dann die jüngeren Töchter in scheinbar nicht chronologischer Reihenfolge?
Ich bin wirklich neugierig und möchte verstehen, ob dies aus dieser Zeit dänische Traditionen oder Normen widerspiegelt. Dank im Voraus!

look again, they are listed by age
Eldest first 1888 then 1890, 1897, 1899 and 1901 and they died within days of the same illness
They are listed by age? Oldest at the top, youngest at the bottom.
We don’t have any traditions about which way to list dead children on gravestones.
It is a rather rare occurrence to have five siblings to die at once. So not something most people would have experience with, or have any norms about.
But they are listed bye age though? Oldest first, then down to the youngest at the bottom..
I guess I would have listed them after precise date of death, but since several of them died on the same day, it only makes sense to list them after date of birth, which these people have done.
On a side note, how tragic is this? 5 kids dead in 4 days? The gravestone claims Jesus will stay with… them? Me? I don’t know, but it feels like Jesus skipped town on July 3rd, and didn’t come back for a bit.
I wonder what kills everyone within 4 day span.
